Outdoor exercise at Ragdale Hall Spa

With many of us longing for fresh, countryside air, and an escape from reality, Ragdale Hall Spa has you covered – set within 13 acres of a serene, country house estate and offering a range of outdoor activities, so you can work up a sweat and leave feeling refreshed and revitalised.

Get your dose of fresh air, soak up some vitamin D and choose from either tennis, archery, cycling, scenic walks or a fitness boot-camp. Exercising in nature is not only good for your body, but your mind, too. In this blog, we take a closer look at some of the fantastic facilities we have on offer.

Tennis

Whether you’re a keen tennis player and want to refine your serve, or you just fancy catching up with friends and releasing some stress, tennis is a fantastic sport to improve your overall health. Not only is it guaranteed to get your blood pumping, but it may even help to improve your metabolic function, improve muscle tone, strength, flexibility, reaction times and hand-eye co-ordination. You’ll have lots of fun doing it too!

Walking routes

At Ragdale we are surrounded by glorious, rolling countryside – so there are plenty of scenic walk routes on offer. Why not head out for an early morning stroll, to start your day feeling fresh and energised, or reconnect with loved ones as the sun sets? You can make it mindful too; leave your phone behind and clear your mind. Focus on your breathing and your steps. How does it feel when your feet walk over grass? What can you see, smell, taste and hear? There’s plenty of wildlife to observe too, so you might be lucky enough to spot some ducks, hares or other creatures, which makes being in nature even more magical.

Mountain bikes

If you’d prefer to explore the grounds of Ragdale at a slightly quicker pace, then why not try out one of our mountain bikes? Cycling comes with an impressive array of well-being benefits; it may help to boost your mood, improve your immune system, strengthen your lungs and burn fat while you’re at it!

If your goal is weight loss, you may be delighted to know that cycling is fantastic for burning calories and may burn between 400 and 1000 an hour, depending on intensity and your weight. Due to the resistance element involved, it’s also great for building muscle too.

During your visit you are free to take advantage of as many of the fitness services mentioned above as you wish for no extra cost. View our fitness timetable on our ‘What’s On’ page so you can plan your visit and see which outdoor classes we are offering. We also offer more personal sessions in training, swimming, tennis and more, however you would need to book these in advance of your visit – further details are available here. If you would like to talk to someone further about the fitness services we offer please call our Treatments and Activities Advice Line on 01664 433043. Hi All
Please can we book a tennis court for our visit on the 21st or 22nd Dec for an hour? We have all our own equipment. Also please can we use the bikes during our stay?

Hi Jayne, to enquire about the use of our tennis courts during your visit, please do call our Treatments Administration Team on 01664 433 043 and they will be able to help you with this. In terms of the bikes they are located on our grounds and are free to use on a first come first serve basis and we recommend to grab one of our helmets too! Many Thanks, Becky
