What to pack for a pampering spa day or break at Ragdale Hall Spa

So, your spa day or spa break is finally booked and you’re dreaming about switching off from the 9-5 and relaxing in the Rooftop Infinity Pool, surrounded by rolling countryside. There’s only one question in your mind – ‘what do I need to pack?’ If the thought of packing a bag is filling you with dread, don’t panic. There aren’t many things you’ll need for your spa break at Ragdale Hall, as we will take care of most of your needs. If you’re coming on a spa day, you might need to bring slightly different things than if you are coming on a spa break, so do check your package first. Here, we share our ideal packing list to make sure you have an unforgettable spa day or break…

What to pack for a Spa Day

Are you wondering what to wear for your spa day? Ragdale is very informal, so there’s no need to dress to the nines! You’ll receive a complimentary fluffy robe upon arrival, which you’re welcome to wear throughout your day or evening as you roam in our Thermal Spa, during treatments and at meal times. If you’re staying for lunch or dinner and like to dress up, then do bring a change of clothes with you.

If you’d like to try a class in one of our NEW Heart + Soul Fitness Studios or refurbished gym, you’ll also need to pack some fitness clothes, suitable trainers and get ready to hit your workout goals.

You’ll need to bring your own swimwear to enjoy our Thermal Spa facilities and six pools. When getting changed, all of our spa days include a locker and changing facilities with showers, hair dryers and an unlimited supply of towels, so there’s no need to bring your own.

You’ll need to bring your own suitable footwear to wear around the Hall, or purchase mules/flip flops from our Boutique (ideal too for wearing around the house… it’ll be as though you’re back at Ragdale)

We provide all the essentials such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in our changing and shower facilities, so there’s no need to panic if you forget something – but feel free to bring your own toiletries if you’d prefer. If you’d like to invest in some new skin or body care whilst you’re here, our Beauty Shop Advisors are always on hand to help you in our Beauty Shop.

Water bottle

We know how important it is to stay hydrated throughout the day, that’s why you’ll find plenty of water stations around the Hall, so please do bring your own re-usable water bottle to re-fill throughout your day.

What to pack for a Spa Break

Ragdale Hall is a relaxed environment, where you can dress as you feel comfortable, so there’s no formal dress code here. Most of the time, you’ll be lounging around in your swimwear and fluffy robe so there’s no need to pack much loungewear for the daytime. For dinner, you may want to pack some smart-casual attire and use this opportunity to doll yourself up after a relaxing day of pampering. Plus, this is the perfect excuse to head to the Twilight Bar for an after dinner cocktail! There’s no pressure to dress up though and you may also find some people are still in their robes during dinner, meaning you can enjoy the spa afterwards, as it’s open until 10pm!

If you’re looking to blow some cobwebs away in the gym, make sure you pop in your gym trainers, leggings and a work-out top.

The most important and essential thing you’ll need to pack for your spa break is a comfortable swimwear. We’d recommend packing a few swimsuits, especially if you’re staying a few nights. It feels nice to be able to change out of your wet swimsuit into a dry one before your treatment, to avoid feeling cold and damp.

Like with most breaks, limiting your choice of footwear is always the case and at Ragdale Hall, you’ll need even less shoes. With complimentary robe hire and flip-flops waiting for you on arrival, we’ve got you covered. Come dinner, you may want to slip out of your flip-flops and pop on some heels or smart shoes depending on your mood.

Your spa break is all about taking time out and pampering yourself. We provide all the essentials such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in your room but be sure to include all your favourite skincare products in your bag so you can practice some more self-care in your room at night. However, if you’re looking to try something new or have forgotten any skincare or beauty products, our Beauty Shop Advisors are always on hand to help you in our Beauty Shop.

Water bottle

We know how important it is to stay hydrated throughout the day, that’s why you’ll find plenty of water stations around the Hall, so please do bring your own re-usable water bottle to re-fill throughout your stay.

Little extras

Be sure to make the most out of your ‘me-time’ by bringing a magazine or a book along with you to read in your room, so you can properly switch-off from the world.

Please add to the list for guests to bring their own re-usable, easily identifiable water bottle – let’s cut down on plastic cup waste as far as we can !

  4. Diane McLeod says:

Bring a piece of ribbon to tie into your white robe to identify as yours ..it’s very helpful when you’ve been in the sensory rooms , sauna and pool and you’ve forgotten where you left it as they all look the same !

  5. Jayne says:

All very sound information, going to find ribbon in my sewing box.

  6. Jane Booth says:

I would also suggest a day bag for your final morning so you have necessary changes of clothing, toiletries etc available in a locker.

  7. Kate Fynes says:

Hi there, are you providing flip flops at the moment? The top footwear section says you need to bring your own, the second footwear section says you provide complementary flip flops. Thanks! 🙂

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Kate,

Thank you for getting in touch. All of our Spa Break packages include a pair of complimentary Ragdale Hall flip flops. For our Spa Day packages, footwear isn’t provided so we recommend either bringing your own flip flops or purchasing a pair from our Boutique upon arrival.

      Kind regards,
      Ragdale Hall Spa

  8. Chris says:

Do you provide hair dryers in rooms if having overnight stay Thankyou

      Hi Chris,

Yes we provide a hair dryer in our rooms and in our spa changing rooms. Kind regards, Ragdale Hall Spa

  9. Julie says:

Posts seem to suggest a water bottle is essential, is that correct or are you providing recyclable drinking cups for water?

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Julie,

Thank you for getting in touch.

We don’t provide plastic drinking cups but in our bar areas we do provide cups (non-plastic) for our water and lemon water stations. We recommend bringing your own water bottle so that you’re able to refill from our water stations at your convenience.

      Kind regards,

      Ragdale Hall Spa

How much are your flip/flops to buy

  11. Amanda says:

The gift shop sell very useful see-through plastic drawstring bags. Ideal for glasses, treatment programme, map and classes programme, tissues, water bottle and a book… all the things you want handy and don’t want to leave in the locker. If this is hung up with your robe it can at as an identifier.

  12. Kathy Hall says:

I just want to say thank you. My husband gave me this spa day for my birthday and told me to arrange the perfect day. Ragdale, you didn’t disappoint. Lunch was delicious. My treatments were lovely and I truly enjoyed the Calm Collection. I ended the day with Champagne and canapes. Your staff made me feel pampered and special, throughout. Thank you. I will be back.

  13. Anne Porter says:

My daughter and I are coming back for a spa break in March after 3 long and difficult years. I have been reading the what to bring list and am getting so excited again. I know what to bring, but your list is exactly right and I would have forgotten the water bottle. Good addition. Really looking forward to seeing everyone and having the most wonderful time as always.

  14. Sally Gardner says:

Are coffee and tea making facilities provided in the rooms?

  15. Kristie says:

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:
