Ragdale Hall Spa: Our story so far

This is what it’s all about. The moment when you lie back. Close your eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Feel your body begin to unfurl, slowly but surely. And know that here, finally, is the place you can press pause, bring your awareness to the here and now, and let your thoughts drift into a pleasant stream of consciousness.

This is the feeling we prioritise above all else. It’s a feeling of calm and reconnection. Of time slowing to a trickle, leisurely hours stretched invitingly ahead. It’s the feeling that keeps our guests returning, again and again. And it’s the gift we look forward to sharing with you.

For over 30 years, Ragdale Hall Spa has been proudly independent. As a family-owned spa set in a grand country home with an intriguing past, we’ve always offered something a little out of the ordinary. Now, with the creation of our new brand, we’ve chosen to celebrate the qualities that make our spa unique and better reflect the experience we give to you.

There’s our decades of experience, evident in everything from the warmth and professionalism of our team to the fine details that make your stay special. There’s the tranquil beauty of the surrounding countryside and our appreciation for the natural world: the earth that grounds us, the water that revives us, the plants that heal us. There’s our history, and our own particular brand of British curiosity. Luxurious and steeped in heritage, yet laid back and unpretentious.

Everything about our brand has been as carefully considered as the atmosphere we create and the treatments we offer. Your relaxation is our priority, so our new brand uses soft, calming colours, inspired by the natural world that surrounds us and is beautifully in keeping with the heritage of our building. You might also notice our wallpaper-inspired botanical patterns. Here, you’ll see delicate stems of lavender, known for its soothing scent and a key ingredient in many of our beloved spa treatments, and oak leaves, symbolising strength, stability and life itself.

We also wanted the new brand to recognise our history, but with a modern twist that hints at our more playful, eccentric side. Look out for the mischievous hare that peeps out above our crest.

It all adds up to an experience unlike any other. A place where time takes on an exceptional quality, and a single moment can transport you somewhere else entirely. A very particular type of paradise awaits, and we’ll help you make the most of every second.

Are you trying to break it gently to the membership that the ownership of Ragdale Hall has changed hands?

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Jane,

The ownership of Ragdale Hall Spa has not changed. We’ve simply refined our brand to celebrate who we are today.

      Kind regards,
      Ragdale Hall Spa

  2. Diane Ruddle says:

Ragdale Hall is similar my place for calm and relaxation.

  3. Kate says:

Love the new branding! It takes into consideration your heritage but in a modern way. Perfect!

  4. Cheryl McCarthy says:

Are you retiring the ‘windows’ logo?

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Cheryl,

Within our crest, we have featured our Summer House window in keeping with our history and to acknowledge our previous branding.

      Kind regards,
      Ragdale Hall Spa

  5. Linda Bird says:

Just don’t change things too much! Not sure about the coat of arms, I like the windows

  6. Dee says:

I love the hare – It reminds me of our last stay with you when we could watch the hares in the field from our bedroom window. I always associate hares with Ragdale now!

  7. Chrissie Walford says:

Love the new look. Actually saw a hare from bedroom window when we were there a few weeks ago. Magical as ever.

  8. Frances Richards says:

Ragdale Hall is my haven, my place to relax and be nurtured.I love the new logo, reminds me of the hares I saw on my last visit.

  9. Susan Perkins says:

I love the hare. Ragdale is the only place I have seen them and I have been coming to Ragdale for the last 45 years. So yes a lovely reminder.

  10. Joy says:

Love the new look and the hare is super. Ragdale always comes up trumps with rebranding. I’ve seen a few over the years. Can’t wait for my next visit in November.

  11. Carol Wheeler says:

I have been visiting ‘Ragdale’ for many, many years. I have been delighted each time, watched it evolve and always anticipated the latest change. My sisters and daughters have also enjoyed the experience and all have felt it to be a spa first and hotel second.
You have I’m sure pulled the ‘hare’ out of the hat once again. X

  12. Karole Browne says:

Ragdale is my go to Happy Place, where as you have stated , I relax, recharge and rebalance.
I’ve visited Ragdale for over 30 years and love this peaceful haven. The new branding is wonderful and I love the cheeky hare. Well done Ragdale!!!

  13. Wendy Glanfield says:

Love the new brand have been coming to Ragdale for years so look forward to my time there have seen the hares from the bedroom windows can’t wait to come back again later in the year.

  14. Alaina Knighton says:

Love the new branding, however the price increases are very disappointing. I understand the cost of living is going up but the refresh and revive day which is now the relaxation day has gone up by almost £40 and the treatment has gone down by 10 minutes, this seems unreasonable to me, why did the treatment time have to be reduced?

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Alaina,

We launched brand new spa break and spa day packages and taken into consideration our guest feedback on the inclusive treatments we offer. We now allow our guests to choose from more inclusive treatments as part of their package so their experience is more personalised. Our prices have increased for the first time this year in line with the increased costs we’re sadly all experiencing for utilities and food.

      Kind regards, Ragdale Hall Spa

  15. Kate says:

ReBranding seems quite a change to those who like the familiar. Is it all about the New Crest or are you introducing more changes?. Why did you feel a Crest is a more modern Ragdale, it’s an ancient heraldic touch made it feel more up market?
As a regular and been coming here over 20 years , I look forward to the familiar but don’tlose sight of your loyal customers please!

  16. Zelda says:

I have been coming for more years than I care to recall. I love and recommend Ragdale for what it is. I couldn’t have told anyone what your logo was and probably will not remember it. I do remember what really matters – the warmth, comfortable rooms, service second to none, excellent food, marvellous relaxation and friendliness of the staff – do I need to go on?

  17. Karen Bateman says:

I love the new brand and Ragdale Hall is always such a warm and welcoming place to visit and relax. Like many others, my Sister and I have been staying with you for over 30 years. We thoroughly enjoyed our last 5 night stay in June, love your infinity pool and cocktail bar.

  18. Valerie Frost says:

Have been coming to Ragdale for many years and the Hare has always been there, so pleased to see him in the new brand

  19. Glynnis Eastwood says:

I really like the new look… I’ve been Coming to Ragdale Hall for many years and love it every time.. Love the Hare holding the crest and “Time Valued” is truly what any time Spent at Ragdale is, for sure..

  20. Janet Bushell says:

I was very happy with the old “branding” but as long as Ragdale itself doesn’t change I suppose that’s all that matters

  21. Jo says:

I have been coming to Ragdale for 30 years – where has the refresh and revive day (I think that was its name) that was the most popular spa day??

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Jo,

We have discontinued our Refresh and Revive Day package and introduced new spa day packages which now offer our guests more choice in their inclusive treatments.

  22. Susan Lewis says:

I must admit you had me worried on my last visit, I could sense a change was coming and I had been questioning my reluctance to visit other Spa’s. I thought maybe I too needed a change. Your statement on branding has come at a welcome time for me. See you soon.

  23. Claire Knott says:

Love the new logo with the hare

  24. Maria Horne says:

Please don’t make too many changes, although I trust you as each change over the years have made my stay perfection. I have loved every stay with you in the many years that I have visited. Keep up the good work.

  25. Lesley Allman says:

I love Ragdale Hall and have been enjoying my time there for decades. Getting a new look is great, but beware, your brand should speak for itself. Most people don’t care about it’s origins etc. they just want to have a lovely time in a lovely place with lovely people. Focus on the substance and let the style reflect that, quietly in the background.
Having said that, maybe the top right box (presumably representing space to think / do nothing) could be like the plinth in Trafalgar Sq i.e. have guest images in it – one that springs to mind is something to represent the amazing staff / customer service – like a big hug!
    See you soon.

  26. Elizabeth Clayton says:

Like so many others, I’ve been coming to Ragdale every year for 24 years. Always with my daughter for a couple of nights & for a day with friends. I have also introduced my 2 eldest granddaughters having brought them for their 18 th birthdays.
Needless to say they also fell in love with Ragdale.
It’s my haven, as soon as l walk through the front entrance I feel at peace .
All your troubles seem to melt away.
    Thank you

  27. Sharon SPOONER says:

Love Ragdale been coming for years
    Definitely my favourite chill place
    Just been with 5 friends
Will be booking again before Christmas

  28. Sarah Gray says:

Refreshing a brand is important to stay relevant and engage new audiences. As an old timer with several visits under my hat, I love this new branding. Well done.

  29. Sally says:

I love the new branding. I’ve been coming to Ragdale for over 24 years, with my daughters for over 7 years. In another 8 years I’ll be bringing my grand daughters! How wonderful!
Stay as individual and lovely as you are, Ragdale.

  30. Jennifer Brown says:

I have been visiting for 20+years, and am never disappointed. It’s the one place that I truly relax. Have seen hares on many occasions, so feel it is appropriate that the Hare is included in the new branding

  31. Beryl marshall cutler says:

I have written to you before, to say I have been cming to Ragdale for over 50 years, My husbnad was alive and he has been dead over 40 years.
When \i first came it was nothing like it is now. It was meant to slim you and you had very little to eat, people dressed for dinner what little there was, it changed hands a few times, belonging to heize at one time.
I must have been in my 40’s, I am now 90years old. I am not able to drive up as I did. But came with a friend about two years ago. I always enjoy coming especially since it has changed for the better.
I came when there was a fuel crisis I think, you could only use heating etc for half a day, we were given extra blankets
I shallbe really sorry when I can no longer come. but have very happy memories of when I could.

  32. Samantha Gibson says:

Love the new logo! I too have also been coming for years and we have celebrated some lovely life moments, 30th Birthday’s, Weddings and in December we are visiting to celebrate our Mum’s 60th Birthday. We can’t wait to be in the peace and tranquility once more.

  33. Freda Warrington says:

My mum and I loved Ragdale, it was one of our very favourite places to visit and relax. We last came in 2009 before her great age got the better of her. I didn’t want to come without her, so my next visit wasn’t until 2018 when a friend dragged me there for a break from being a carer. Although we had a wonderful stay, I couldn’t help feeling Ragdale was a little tired: the treatment areas smelled more of damp than the usual gorgeous aromatherapy oils. Decor had seen better days. I do hope you’ve had time after Covid to freshen the place up. My mum passed this year aged 98 and a half. I need some quality Ragdale time to get over a lot of recent stress xxx

  34. Lynda Fisher says:

Always good to have a positive change. I also have been visiting Ragdale for many years. Although I live in Surrey Ragdale is my prefered spa by far. Looking forward to our next stay in October.
Hope our room has a view and we see a Hare.

  35. Patricia Hawley says:

Love Ragdale… it’s family tradition and values are great but there’s always ways to move forward with the times and keep tradition alive at same time! I have a great photo of hate on path behind bell under a full moon! Taken in August earlier this year!
    Trish

  36. Jean Kilbey says:

Made my first visit to Ragdale in 1978 and have lost count of how many times I have been since. Have seen so many changes over the years and am looking forward to my next visit in the Spring. I love the hare in the crest as I too have enjoyed getting close to the hares at Ragdale. Not really worried about branding, so long as the friendly, welcoming staff are still there to greet me, along with the wonderful, relaxing treatments.

  37. Alison Keast says:

Love the new branding .Have been coming to Ragdale Hall since the early 1980s and also since my daughter turned 16. She is now 28. Love the calm atmosphere. Feel truly relaxed. Can’t wait to book another stay.

  38. Lindsey Paton says:

I first visited Ragdale Hall in the 1980s please don’t change it too much. I love it just the way it is along with hundreds thousands of other people.

  39. Tracey Jaworsky says:

I love the new brand and Ragdale Hall is always such a warm and welcoming place to visit and relax. My friend and I are relative newbies as we have only been coming for 3 years but we look forward to many more years to come. We thoroughly enjoyed our last 4 night stay in September and are about to book our 4th visit, we love the infinity pool and cocktail bar and of course breakfast in bed.

  40. Frances Zain says:

I love Ragdale and have been many many times.. However it was in need of re furbishment as was looking very tired and outdated in many places last time I visited. Do you just have a new crest or have you actually updated and refurbished alot of the building? Otherwise just a re- brand alone is not enough ?

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Frances,
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you felt it looked tired in some places. We try to update the Hall as often as we can. In 2020 we launched the new Twilight Bar and more recently, refurbished the gym and it’s facilities, now referred to as the Heart + Soul Fitness.
We’ll continue to gradually make improvements across the Hall and our grounds but feedback is always welcome.
      Kind regards,
      Ragdale Hall Spa

  41. Beverley Swinchatt says:

I’ve been coming to Ragdale Hall for forty years and there is nothing to beat it.
From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are treated like a princess.
I’ve seen many changes for over the years and all of them have been wonderful.
    Long may it continue.
Looking forward to my stay next year.
    Many thanks Beverley.

  42. Sue Bennett says:

I hope you’ll continue to be the oasis of calm that I’ve known for 25 years. I can’t wait to visit again

  43. Karen Perkins says:

Well considered new brand, very appropriate and I love the words; Time. Valued. Well done team. Looking forward to our group visit this November, when about 60 of us will come for our annual well deserved r and r.

  44. Sheena Griffiths-baker says:

I LOVE coming to Ragdale Hall and I’m so looking forward to future visits. In the past I have always chosen the Revive & Refresh day and would select a back massage from the choices available. Hoping to find a version of the R&R day where I could still make this choice and taking notice of the photo of a back massage that accompanies the Luxury Relaxation Day, I was disappointed to find that it’s not in fact available. The photo is a little bit misleading and maybe another image might better represent this Day unless, of course, a 40 min back massage could become part of this otherwise very tempting package…………..

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Sheena,

Our Indulgent Day offers a 50 minute Relax and Rehydrate treatment which includes a back massage within the treatment. We really value your feedback regarding the image accompanying our Luxury Relaxation Day and will pass this onto our Marketing Team.

      Kind regards, Ragdale Hall Spa

  45. Carol says:

I thought Ragdale Hall has been going a lot lot longer than 30 years. I worked there over 40 years ago, my late father did over 35 years until he retired 15 years ago and his partner is still the longest serving member of staff. I suppose it passed through other hands 30 years ago. However it does look amazing!

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Carol,
Thank you for your kind words. You’re right, Ragdale Hall Spa has been running for almost 50 years but since 1990, Ragdale has been a privately owned family business. For the past 30 years, owners Michael Isaacs and Penny Nesbitt have run the business.

It’s so wonderful to hear you have such strong ties to the Hall, we hope you have many fond memories.

  46. Jane Hywood says:

I love going to Ragdale Hall. It’s the most tranquil and amazing place and I have booked a 7 night stay for next year (longest has been 4 days ). Been going to Ragdale for over 10 years now. Can’t wait for my next visit. Thank you Ragdale.

  47. Mrs Christina Ansell says:

I have been coming to Ragdale for over 40 years, with my friends & when my daughter was old enough I took her along. I have ALWAYS booked the refresh & revive. The last time I came a couple of months ago my treatment was at a different time completely to my daughter, so we ‘lost’ an hour of quality time together. I am booked for 11th October ( refresh & revive) but it will be my very last time. End of an era

    • Ragdale Hall Spa says:

      Hi Christina,
We’re so sorry hear that. We would always try to arrange treatments at the same time. Although, due to unforeseen circumstances, this isn’t always possible.
However, at booking, it is possible to add a note to the account to say that you would like the treatment times to be at the same and we’ll try our absolute best to ensure this happens. A member of the team will email you shortly with regards to your next visit.

We look forward to seeing you in October.

      Kindest Regards,
      Stacy
      Ragdale Hall Spa

  48. Anthea Green says:

I absolutely love Ragdale, I first came with my daughter when she was 21 in 1995 and have been regularly ever since. In November I am bringing my granddaughter who will son be 21! Please don’t go too much into the whole ‘thing of branding,’ The special and different aspect of Ragdale Hall is that it doesn’t push the brand image but has stayed independent.

  49. Mrs b.moore says:

I feel so at home at Ragdale please don’t change it.the company is always friendly, food is always tasty, served nicely.looking forward to my next visit….

  50. Claire jebson says:

I bet that absolutely zero guests said “you need a re- brand “ on the feedback forms!! I hope this isn’t the end of this great place – as I think a re- brand is nearly always just ahead of a closure or sell out!! I think we all know there have to be compromises to keep ragdale profitable – maybe close outdoor pools in winter or reduce breakfast options? Why not ask us and share – we can all see the tweaks – we might be upset but if it means ragdale goes on then heh we’re happy!
