How to Perfect Your Nail Paint

We all know how quickly perfectly painted nails can lift our spirits.

As well as giving your mood a boost, however, your nail paint can be tailored to match your outfit or show off a quirkier side of your personality – and there are hundreds of incredible colours from which to choose.

Whether you're opting for a sultry red or a breezy yellow, painting your own nails at home often means taking your time to avoid making a mess. As a result, we've compiled some top tips to help you perfect your nail paint every time ...

Fail To Prepare, Prepare To Fail

Tip #1: Apply OPI Chip Skip or CND Scrub Fresh to the nails to absorb any remaining oils left on the nail plate.

Tip #2: Apply one layer of base coat. This will prevent staining (especially when wearing dark colours. Base coats will also provide a layer for the nail colour to adhere to).

Tip #3: Apply two coats of the nail lacquer. This will ensure you have a good, even coverage and give you the best possible colour.

Tip #4: Paint across the free edge of the nail to seal the depth of colour – this prevents premature chipping (do this with the second coat of colour and topcoat).

Tip #5: Use topcoat – this gives the high gloss finish and protects lacquer from chipping.

Tip #6: Use a drying agent like O.P.I. Rapi Dry spray to speed up drying time avoiding smudges.
