Brave Charlotte is preparing to take on the world!
Charlotte Taylor of Bristol, first visited Ragdale over fifteen years ago and took the plunge (literally) to learn to swim with long serving instructor/therapist Jon Jarvis and from then developed a real love of swimming and has returned annually.
When she was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, she thought her sporting days were over, but following a stem cell transplant (her donor was her brother – a 10/10 match) she has made a miraculous recovery.
Once well, she went back to her favourite sports and soon was asked to participate in the British Transplant Games. Last summer in Bath she won bronze in the 50 metres freestyle, silver in the table tennis and gold in the 1500 metres running. What an allrounder!
Charlotte has now been asked to represent the UK in the World Transplant Games in Gothenburg, Sweden in June. As part of her preparations she booked a visit to Ragdale recently and prevailed upon her original mentor, Jon, to help her perfect her swimming technique and give her general personal fitness advice and plans.
Charlotte calls Jon, “a hard task master” but knows that’s just what she needs to harden-her-off before this very competitive competition.
We wish her all the luck in the world and will report in future enewsletters of her results.
