Atholl Brose is classic favourite for breakfast at Ragdale Hall Spa. Now you can enjoy this classic dish from the comfort of your own home.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 175g (6oz) medium oatmeal
- 4 tbsp clear honey
- 500g (1lb 2oz) low fat natural yogurt
- 250g (9oz) raspberries
Method
- Pre-heat the grill. Sprinkle the oatmeal onto a baking sheet and toast it lightly until golden brown. Leave it to cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together 2 tbsp of the honey and the yogurt, then mix in the cooled oats. Layer the mixture into serving glasses with the raspberries and remaining honey, reserving a few raspberries to arrange on top. Chill until ready to serve.
CHEF’S TIP: Make this the night before and chill in the fridge overnight – it will taste even better at breakfast time!

I love this, and have it for breakfast every time I go to Ragdale Hall. A friend of mine used to make it for dessert at dinner parties back in the ’80s, but it had an extra ingredient – copious quantities of Irish whiskey!
My Ragdale breakfast favourite carnt wait to be back having it again x
I always have this and love it! Can’t believe they use low fat yoghurt though, it’s always so creamy!
I made this to eat for breakfast on the three mornings I could not come to Ragdale because of the Coronavirus. Nothing like the relaxing luxury of breakfast at Ragdale, but it made me feel just a little bit special. I always have Atholl Brose – it’s so delicious!
I hope all the lovely staff are well, and stay well, and that my friends and I will be able to visit you all again soon.

How lovely and generous you are to share your recipe with us all. I love the Athol Brose (without raspberries as I have allergies) and this means we can have a little bit of Ragdale at home.
Thinking of all the lovely staff who are constantly in my prayers. Thank you Ragdale for sharing recipes and other lovely things to make the lockdown a little more bearable. Hoping to see you soon

I shall make this and enjoy it whilst wearing my Ragdale robe and flip flops! I’ll make believe I am there! My friend Sue and I are still pinching ourselves that we managed to grab a few days a Ragdale in March just before lockdown. Fingers crossed we can get back in the autumn ❤
Love this recipe. So easy and a great breakfast! Any chance of the recipe for your feta, tomato breakfast muffins? They are delicious and I have never found a recipe that compares!
Wow I absolutely love the Altholl Brose! Always so very nice to have in bed at Ragdale! How we all wish we there now! I will be forever grateful to my twin sister Steph Evans for introducing me to Ragdale!
