Celebrating Strength and Beauty from Within
March is more than just the arrival of spring; it’s a powerful reminder of the strength and achievements of women. As we step into International Women’s Day on Saturday 8th March and Mother’s Day on Sunday 30th March, we wanted to celebrate the women that inspire us every day. In a world that never seems to pause, women continue to balance careers, families, passions, and everything in between.
We hosted a group of women here at the Hall to talk about their thoughts on womanhood and the inspiration they take from other women around them. It was powerful and uplifting to hear how the group were not only embracing their own strength as a woman but also celebrating the other women in their life. We discussed the following topics, Empowerment, Strength and Wisdom.
Empowerment
Women are the bridges between generations, carrying the wisdom of those who came before while paving paths of courage and change for those yet to come.
Joan, 86, talked us through what makes her feel empowered ‘Born at a time when women in my generation were invisible. I’m so proud of the fact that my daughters have become the women they are today. Wise, witty and wonderful. This generation have all the freedom to choose the life they wish for.’ Esha, 23, who is unapologetically embracing her power as a woman having had examples of strong women, shared ‘having the ability to focus on growing a career without comprising on the idea of getting married or starting a family [is empowering]. Women are determined and we should never settle for less’.
Strength
Being able to embody a softness and a strength through nurturing and leading is the ultimate strength of a woman.
Strength meant so many different things when speaking to the group, inner strength, resilience and empathy. Kaye spoke about what motherhood had taught her ‘since becoming a mum it has given me the confidence, strength and determination that what ever I put my mind to I can achieve. We can support, nurture, be compassionate and have the power to adapt.’ Speaking about her own mum Diya said ‘I admire my mum’s strength in raising children, being a wife and working. I hope to be half the woman my mum is’.
Wisdom
I can use my femininity to ensure I am the best person.
Life is all about growth, as women we learn many lessons along the way which shape us as mothers, daughters, sisters or as friends. We spoke with the group to find out what they had learnt on their journeys about themselves as women. Claire speaks about becoming a mum to two girls, she said ‘being a mum taught me to trust my instinct, be present and soak up every moment. I feel so lucky to guide and grow with my beautiful children.’ Similarly Dawn, a mum and grandmother, spoke to us about what motherhood had shown her that ‘the capacity to love is underrated. Children find that deep well of love and top it up regularly’. Women can sacrifice so much in raising children but to hear these beautiful learnings you could hear the confidence it has built in these wonderful women. Bina spoke to us about her own mum ‘She is strong, kind and caring. She inspires me to never give up on what I want in life.’
Celebrating women is about appreciating their resilience and contributions in every aspect of life. This month join us in expressing gratitude, offering encouragement, and lifting the women around you.
This month Jenifer Taylor will be hosting her ‘Inner Alchemy for Women’ workshop at the Hall. Through shared insights, you can discover how to harness your inner alchemy and encourage new ideas and realities but also bring balance into everyday life. This session includes a crystal, a welcome drink, and a letter filled with words of wisdom for you to take home as a reminder of your journey towards self-discovery and empowerment.
