If you’ve ever wondered how yoga can benefit you in your life, let Meg Jackson, the founder of Real Life Yoga and host of Ragdale’s 2020 Yoga Breaks, explain:
“Yoga is about being curious, not a contortionist. It’s about using amazing practices so that you can become the best version of you – in real life. If we want to live a truly healthy and happy life, it’s essential to get every bit of us working in harmony.”
“Improve your physical and mental wellbeing and you’ll find you’ll be able to cope with more of what life throws at you. Getting on a yoga mat can help with all this. And more.”
Meg founded Real Life Yoga (RLY) to help people to bring a little (or a lot) of yoga into their real lives. She is a 500 hours Yoga Alliance certified teacher, (which means she’s completed more than 500 hours of high quality training) and over the last ten-ears has taught in a range of settings, from gyms to luxurious hotels, and from draughty church halls to corporate meeting rooms. She was also the Resident Yoga Teacher at an award-winning Caribbean health and fitness resort, and strongly believes everyone’s life can benefit from yoga. This will be the third year of Meg hosting yoga breaks at Ragdale Hall.
We offer three levels of break with Meg for you to choose from depending on whether you have very little experience or are looking to take your yoga practice to the next level.
Sunday 9th – Tuesday 11th February – beginners level – LAST FEW SPACES REMAINING
Thursday 14th – Saturday 16th May 2020 – building on the basics
Thursday 3rd – Saturday 5th September 2020 – finding your flow
So if you would like to spend some quality time for you and to learn more about yoga in the nourishing setting of Ragdale Hall, then this is the break for you.
The Experienced Level break is perfect for those wishing to develop their existing practice. To really make the most of it we suggest that you’ve been regularly practicing yoga for at least six months. (Absolute beginners may wish to start their yoga journey on the Ragdale Hall Introduction to Yoga Break).

If you’re interested in exploring yoga and how it can benefit you but have found all the different options a bit overwhelming, we’ve created the perfect two-night break to gently ease you into yoga practice… and who knows where the journey may take you.
Scientific studies have shown us that slowing down, looking inwards and being more mindful helps us to be better at work, rest and play. This may explain the explosion of yoga classes and studios offering a variety of themes. If you’re looking to dip your toe in the calming yoga waters, however, this immense choice can be rather daunting, so our break is designed for those new to yoga, to get you started on your own yoga journey.
We’ve created an enlightening and empowering break based around a key tenet within yoga practice: the Sun Salutation. While this sequence of 12 positions only became central to many styles and classes in the early 20th century, its origins are rooted in history. Giving thanks to the Sun was one of the belief systems held by the Pashupta sect right back in the 2nd century.
The Sun Salutation can remove bodily and mental tensions, improve circulation, stimulate the nervous system and loosen your joints. It can also improve mobility in your whole body and tone the muscles of your abdomen, pelvis and spine.
You will be part of a small group and will experience five unique classes geared to gently ease you into yoga practice and help you to take your first steps forward, all within the calming and relaxing surroundings for which Ragdale Hall is so well known.
This unique break will leave you feeling tighter, lighter and brighter, with a confidence to incorporate what you’ve learnt – not just about yoga, but also yourself – into your everyday life. This break will also equip you with the right knowledge and skills to possibly progress onto one of our Real Life Yoga breaks in the future.
