How much holiday will I get?
Everyone gets 5.6 weeks holiday per year plus you get an extra day for every year you work over 5 years up to a maximum of an extra week.

Can employees use the guest facilities?
Employees can use the gymnasium at certain times and attend some exercise classes free of charge. The Restaurant is open to employees and their friends and family at half price. Due to the high usage by our guests, we are unable to allow our employees to use the swimming pool and Thermal Spa facilities.

Are uniforms provided free of charge?
Yes, where a uniform is required, it will be provided by Ragdale free of charge.

Is there a staff restaurant?
Yes, and the food is provided free of charge! Breakfast, lunch and tea is served everyday. There is always a main dish of the day, a vegetarian dish of the day, jacket potatoes with hot and cold fillings, sandwiches and a salad bar. Tea, coffee, filtered water and cordials are also provided free of charge.

Do you get many celebrity guests?
Very occasionally a famous person visits Ragdale but we don't make a big deal about it. We treat all our guests the same, famous or not!

How many people work at Ragdale Hall?
Approximately 480 (although approximately half of these are part-time).


How many departments are there at Ragdale?
Ragdale has 25 diverse departments from Housekeeping to Beauty Treatments, Gardens, Reservations, Kitchens, Administration, Marketing, Hair Studio, Porters, Reception and Drivers to name just a few!


What is a Destination Spa?
'Destination Spa' is the current term for a place like Ragdale. It means that unlike staying in a hotel then going out and about to see the local sights, our guests stay on site most of the time having treatments, using the facilities and generally enjoying a bit of 'me-time'!

What are the guests like who stay at Ragdale?
Our guests come from all walks of life. A high proportion of our clientele is female but more and more men are being introduced to the joys of being pampered! Because of our reputation, our guests (quite rightly) expect very high levels of service. If we do our jobs properly, our guests are generally relaxed and happy and leave us smiling and ready to face the world again!.

What are the shift patterns like?
Each department has different shift patterns. However, almost all departments work on a five days out of seven rota which means you will be required to work some weekends. Other than our Night Cleaners and Porters, most departments open no earlier than 7.00am and close no later than 11.00pm. Is staff accommodation provided?
Depending on your circumstances, we can provide accommodation in our staff houses, which are located in Melton Mowbray, approximately eight miles away. Our staff mini bus provides transport to and from work throughout the day. Accommodation is fairly basic and you may have to share a room with another person to start off with. Living room, kitchen and bathroom facilities are shared. Rent is charged at slightly below market rates.

How often do you get paid?
Salaries are paid per calender month - on the last working weekday of the month.

Can you get to Ragdale if you don't have a car?
We provide free of charge transport to and from work on our staff mini bus from various locations in Melton Mowbray, Asfordby Hill, Asfordby Valley and Asfordby. Unfortunately, there is no public transport that will bring you close to Ragdale so if you do not drive or live in Melton Mowbray or Asfordby, you may find it difficult to get to us.

How can I apply for a position at Ragdale Hall?
You can download an application form from this website and return it or you can send in your CV. If you are applying for a position within our Beauty Treatments Department, we need the following information from you:

  • A completed application form
  • A copy of your CV with a covering letter
  • Copies of your certificates
  • Copies of your student report
  • Names and addresses of two referees
  • A passport-sized photograph of yourself (optional)
