World Health Day

The 7th April marks World Health Day, and there’s never been more of an important time to focus on not only our physical health, but our mental health and wellbeing too.

Cultivate compassion

Many of us may have set goals and targets at the start of this year, but we also need to keep in mind that our current situation is anything but ordinary and comes with its own set of challenges. If we don’t manage to achieve something which we set out to do, we need to listen and observe our inner dialogue – are we being hard on ourselves? It’s a difficult time, and we just need to take each day as it comes. Now more than ever, there’s a need to be kind to ourselves and cultivate a sense of compassion. (Quite literally, give yourself a hug, because you are doing an amazing job- even if you don’t feel like you are.)

Disconnect to reconnect

The world of social media means that we are constantly absorbing information and images like never before, and this can lead us to look at ourselves and our lives and feel as though we perhaps aren’t enough. The online world needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, but sometimes this can be hard to put into practice. This doesn’t mean that we need to pull the plug on our digital lives completely, but it may be time for a short break. Try to put your phone away for a few hours each day, and use that time to do something which you truly enjoy, such as a walk outdoors, reading a good book, crocheting or just sitting with a nice cup of tea. By using this time to reconnect with yourself, you might begin to feel a bit more grounded.

Space to breathe

Sometimes, we all just need to have breathing space from our worlds, to realign and recharge. At Ragdale Hall Spa we are dedicated to your wellness, and although a spa day or spa break can be about reconnecting with your loved ones, it’s also about making time for and reconnecting with yourself, so you can return back to your world fully restored.
