You might have heard of this word in the wellness world, or maybe not at all! Hygge (which is actually pronounced Hue-gah), is a Danish word and concept which essentially encapsulates being cosy, togetherness, comfort, and finding happiness in the little things. Imagine it’s winter, the weather is cold outside, but you’re curled up with a blanket and mug of hot chocolate on the sofa, watching the rain from the window – it’s the feeling of warmth you get which is the very essence of Hygge.
Hygge is all about finding happiness in the little joyous moments which life sometimes presents us: whether it’s curling up with a good book, lighting a candle, sitting in front of a roaring fire, or wearing your favourite cosy knitwear.
It also represents togetherness, and the warming feeling which comes from reconnecting with loved ones and enjoying a good catch up.
If you want to fully experience hygge, Ragdale Hall can also give you that warm, fuzzy feeling!
Hot stone massage
A popular treatment which resonates with hygge would be a hot stone massage. A hot stone massage can gently release tension, soothe aching muscles, eliminate toxins, rebalance energy levels and calm the mind and body. The therapist will use her hands in harmony with smooth, individually shaped, heat releasing stones. The stones are an extension of the hands to rebalance the body’s energy flow and relax muscles.
Thermal Spa
For the ultimate Scandinavian-hygge experience, indulge in the sensory experience of the Rose Sauna at Ragdale Hall. This rose-scented Scandinavian sauna will warm you up and re-energise your senses. You’ll leave feeling recharged and warmed up from head to toe!
Rooftop Infinity Pool
Reconnect with your loved ones and experience hygge by spending time together in the Rooftop Infinity Pool – which is heated to a blissful 35 degrees. In winter, although outside in the open-air, you’ll feel nice and cosy as the bubbles will envelop you in a warming cloud of serenity. Aahhh.
