So many people say when they walk through Ragdale’s front door and are greeted by our friendly reception team, they instantly get the ‘Aaah Ragdale’ moment and we believe that is exactly what happened to James Bowie, our new Hotel Operations Manager.

In June, we welcomed James to the Ragdale family and, three months on, he is thriving in his new role. James confessed he had a few worries about joining such a big team, having come from a small family team, but his worries soon left when everyone was ‘warm’ and ‘supportive’ (even when James struggled to remember everyone’s names).

James’ role is to oversee the bars, restaurants, kitchen, reception and guest liaison, amongst other things, so we think he’ll be kept busy.

He told us: “I chose Ragdale because it’s outstanding in terms of being a nationally recognised spa, having an excellent legacy and great ambition to maintain its status as such. I also find the team culture to be fantastic and feel that team philosophy fits with my values”, he added, when we asked why he chose Ragdale.

The energy and warmth of the whole team at Ragdale is what James looks forward to when he comes into work, he told us, and it is a pleasure to be a part of it.

James has brought loads of experience with him, having worked his way up at the Belmont Hotel in Leicester, which is owned by his family. He has worked in marketing and promotion, and a range of operational elements. He said that he really enjoyed being a part of this family run business and it was a fantastic privilege, but now he is ready to move onto his next challenge.

James is very keen to get ‘under the skin’ of Ragdale, as he told Tom Pegden, Business Editor, during a recent interview for the Leicester Mercury. He is also planning to support the development of people within his team and to maintain and improve the high service standards that we know our guests expect and enjoy.

Look out for James as one of his roles is Duty Manager, so you may see him around the Hall when you visit.
