Ragdale Hall Health Hydro & Thermal Spa, based in Leicestershire offers a number of fitness breaks throughout the year and coming over the next few months we have two dates for both our Pilates Retreat and Yoga Retreat.  But which one is for you?  Read on to find a little bit more about both forms of exercise and then you can decide.

If you are wanting to tone up in time for summer and to improve the appearance of your body, or if you’ve been suffering from back problems, then Pilates is the perfect exercise for you.

If deep relaxation and finding the connection between body and soul is what you are aiming to achieve, then Yoga is probably more your thing.

Pilates and Yoga are both great ways of strengthening your body and relieving stress and tension, hence why our Pilates Retreat and Yoga Retreats have proved popular in the past.  Whether you’re a complete beginner or regularly practise, our experts will guide you through and help you adapt the best technique in your chosen subject.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core and improving coordination and balance. No muscle group is under or over trained. It enhances core strength and brings increased reach, flexibility, sure-footedness and agility.

Due to the success of the first Pilates Retreat we have two more dates planned – Thursday 18th to Saturday 20th April 2013 and Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th September 2013. Find out what is included and read a little more about our experienced leader Cherry Baker.

What is Yoga?

The whole system of Yoga is built on three main structures: exercise, breathing, and meditation. The exercises of Yoga are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems of the body and so increasing its efficiency and total health. Regular daily practice of all three parts of this structure of Yoga produce a clear, bright mind and a strong, capable body.
