The transformed Tower Room

Ragdale’s Tower room has undergone a major refurbishment over the last few weeks and is reopening in perfect time for Christmas.

Our in-house team has been hard at work transforming Room 50, a Superior triple room, creating and fitting out a new bathroom, redecorating from top to bottom, and moving in the new furniture.

The biggest challenge for the team has been to get the new furniture, fixtures and fittings up into the room, which is accessed from a spiral staircase.  Some fairly drastic action was called for as the only way to bring in the new freestanding bathtub and bespoke furniture was by taking out the bedroom window (above).

Once likely to have been part of the staff accommodation in the days of the old Hall, this Superior triple room is now a beautiful haven of calm, featuring wallpaper by Osborne and Little in green, turquoise and silver with a stunning bird design, and Osborne and Little green and silver curtains (we love the pelmet detailing). The bespoke furniture is from Innovate in Kirkstall, Leeds.

The room’s crowning glory is the new bathroom which has been created by joining the two smaller rooms which previously housed the bath and washbasin,  and separate toilet. A freestanding Adamsez bath sits in front of a mosaic feature wall in tones which complement the bedroom’s wallpaper, with a handy niche for toiletries built into the wall.

A separate walk-in shower nestles in the corner of the bathroom, with not one – but two – hand basins, heated towel rails and illuminated vanity mirrors with magnifying mirror making this a delightful space to share!

And here’s a little reminder of how it looked before – we hope you agree it’s much improved!

Would it be suitable for disabled

    • Tracy says:

      Hi Diana,
many thanks for your comment. Unfortunately Room 50 is not suitable for disabled access as it is within a tower and is therefore only accessible by a tight spiral staircase. However, we do have other triple rooms of varying grades that are easily accessible. Please contact our Reservations team with your specific requirements and they will be able to advise you personally – they are on 01664 433000. We hope to welcome you to Ragdale soon!

What a difference! Although I have never stayed in the Tower Room, a fellow guest I met at the Social Table was moving up there for the last night or two of her stay and showed it to me. Massive but very very dark and a little oppressive. This new look is just what it needed and it looks much brighter now. The bathroom really does look luxurious. I am sure many guests will enjoy it

We stayed in this room last April, a beautiful room but was difficult with the spiral staircase. However, we enjoyed the stair work out once we had adjusted.
Looking forward to seeing the refurbishment when we book for April this year.

Looks gorgeous, I stayed in the room with my friend on our first visit which was almost 30 years ago! She’s sadly no longer with us, but it was a lovely stay.

When I come for the best break of the year with my sisters we’ll definitely book this room as it looks great! We have been coming for 15 years now and this year is my sister’s 70th – this looks perfect for the celebration at Ragdale. Thank you for keeping us up to date!

Fantastic transformation!! We stayed in this room last year and was disappointed to see it was the same as it was 10years previously. I did make a few comments but thank you for listening I can’t wait to stay in it again!!

  12. Caroline H says:

Oooh – I seem to be the only poster who has not actually stayed in this room.
I must say I do agree with Kirsten – that bath does look really really special – I hope you enjoy using it

Oh, I loved the old room when we stayed for our 40th Wedding anniversary with our friend in September. We were going to book it again the next time we came. Although I must say the bathroom is lovely, is there now only 1 bathroom and loo instead of two?
Amazing how you got everything out and the new furniture in and it does look nice, but the old room was charming and we loved the beds with the shelves behind your head and the cabin bed was great, it made you feel the history of the building.

I have very fond memories of the old room, I am sure the refurbishment is lovely but the old one had such character. My two daughters and I shared on our first two visits to Ragdale.
