The NEW Rooftop Infinity Pool is open!
We know everyone has been eagerly awaiting news on the new Rooftop Infinity Pool and Lounge and we are delighted to be able to announce they are… (drum roll please) NOW OPEN.
As with any building project there have been some unexpected challenges, but on a crisp bright day just before Christmas Ragdale’s co-owner, Michael Isaacs, was joined by regular guest Judy Court, to cut a celebratory ribbon and welcome guests into the new Pool and Lounge area.
Michael said; “This is a momentous day as it has been a challenging project, but we really do feel we have a unique feature here, taking full advantage of the amazing view. We hope all our guests will enjoy it.”
Judy, from Doncaster, happened to be in-house on the big day and only found out the night before she had been chosen to share the official honours with Michael. She commented: “It was lovely to be asked, and very unexpected. I’ve been coming to Ragdale for 30 years and have seen many changes, but each time it feels like coming home.”
And while Judy finished her ‘official’ duties for the day and headed off for a treatment, it was another guest, Tessa Frost, who was first into the new pool, saying simply: “It’s marvellous!”
We also hope you’ll enjoy the new features in the Exercise Pool, where we have striking, colour-changing bespoke LED mood lighting, designed in part by the team behind the light show at the Rio Olympics’ opening ceremony. We’re also introducing some new pool-based exercise sessions, so there are plenty of new things to try.
Here are a few more facts about the new facilities you might find of interest:
- The 12m x 3.5m stainless steel pool was designed and manufactured in Austria and features reclining underwater massage jet seating, coloured underwater lighting, an infinity edge, and is heated to 35 degrees
- The Rooftop and Exercise Pool areas are connected by an airy staircase featuring a 4m x 9.5m glass art installation from Melt Designs. The stunning flowing coloured glass piece has been designed and made exclusively for the staircase by Jennifer Barker using glass from Oregon, USA
- A dramatic feature in the spacious stairwell is a bespoke lighting installation from Luum in London, called ‘Leaf’. With a 7 metre drop and width of 1.4 metres, the cascade of matt gold aluminium discs appears to tumble from above, reminiscent of the dappled light of the sun filtered through the canopy of a tree.
Of course the only way to really find out about the new Pool and Lounge area is to come and try it for yourself, and we hope to see you soon! (But you might like to read what our Good Spa Guide reviewer thought, by clicking here.)
