Arguably one of our fundamental human needs, relaxation allows the body to unwind and relieve stress by slowing the heart rate and increasing blood flow to the muscles, which decreases muscle tension.

Here are our top tips for a perfect relaxation ritual…

Firstly, treat your body to a thorough exfoliation to leave your skin feeling revitalised and silky smooth. With circular movements, massage in a granular scrub to boost the circulation and remove dead skin cells.

Next, soak away your stress by indulging in a relaxing bath. Add some calming bubble bath or tension relieving bath salts to running water, light some candles, press play on your favourite music and step in to feel your aches and worries float away.

For the perfect at home facial, start by double cleansing the skin to remove all traces of make-up, impurities and grime. Be sure to exfoliate once or twice a week to immediately brighten and soften the skin, as well as allowing products applied afterwards to penetrate deeper into the skin.

After exfoliation is the perfect time to apply a facial mask, so choose a mask suited to your skin type.  Lie back and relax while your complexion receives an intensive boost.  After removing the mask, moisturise and protect the skin with your favourite facial cream.
