Ragdale Hall Spa Student of Excellence 2020 – open for entries!
The countdown is officially on for our Student of Excellence competition 2020 – and we couldn’t be more excited!
As many of you know, at Ragdale we believe that no spa day or break is complete unless you’ve dedicated time during your visit for a luxurious dose of pampering.
To deliver the vast range of treatments we have on offer, we employ an elite team of over 130-highly trained therapists (who we truly believe are among the best in the country!) committed to ensuring our guests have a truly amazing experience with us.
Our Recruitment Team work with colleges around the UK to develop and nurture beauty students – our therapists of the future. Of these, 25 colleges who meet our strict training criteria are awarded Ragdale Hall ‘College of Excellence’ status.
One of the many benefits of being a College of Excellence is that students are eligible to enter our annual Student of Excellence competition.
As we gear up for Student of Excellence 2020 – sponsored by ELEMIS – we caught up with this year’s winner, Emily Adlam, to hear all about the competition and her first four-months working as a Beauty Therapist at Ragdale Hall Spa.
As the winner of Student of Excellence 2019 Emily gained a fulltime Beauty Therapist position (along with a place on our Advanced Beauty Therapy Training Programme), a £500 bonus on completion of a year’s service, a pampering spa day for two and a gorgeous Decleor product hamper.
Emily said: “I first heard about the competition when another student from my college (North Warwickshire and Hinckley College) won Student of Excellence two years ago. I completed Work Experience at Ragdale Hall at the end of 2018, and the competition was mentioned again so I knew I wanted to apply.”
“From finding out I had been shortlisted as a finalist to winning the competition, the whole experience has been brilliant and I would definitely recommend entering – it’s an amazing way to meet new training therapists and give back to your college and lecturers who have seen you develop throughout the years. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to grow as a therapist and a person and take your first step into a career in the beauty industry.
“I’ve been at Ragdale for four-months now, and the time has flown by. Everyone is really nice and has helped me settle in – I already feel like part of the family. When I started here full-time, I was a little bit nervous, but soon found out that there is always someone to talk to and weekly meetings with my team leader gave me regular 121 time to discuss my development which has been so helpful.
“One of the biggest things that has stood out for me is the training opportunities that are available to you as a beauty therapist. I’ve decided to train in all of the product houses on offer because I want as much experience as possible, but some of my friends have decided to focus on just a few for now. It’s totally up to you though, and Ragdale really put you in charge of your future.
“If you’re a Level 3 Beauty Therapy student, I’d definitely recommend applying for work experience at Ragdale like I did. It gives you are really good opportunity to see what it would be like to work here full time, understand what Ragdale offer, experience shift patterns and meet the team.
“My top tip for 2020 year’s entrants is to be prepared! Try and practise when you can beforehand, because when you get into a competition environment it can be a little bit nerve-wracking. But, most of all have fun and enjoy the experience!”
