Here at Ragdale, we love a bit of pampering and relaxation, as anyone who’s visited us will know. In fact, we’re so well-known for being one of the best places to come for the perfect chill-out, many people don’t realise we also offer a varied programme of fitness classes, and even breaks, designed to offer something for most interests and levels of fitness – or not, as the case may be!
We’re always looking at new ideas for fitness but without getting caught up in the latest ‘fad'; we want to offer our guests sessions that are rewarding and get results but, importantly, are also enjoyable. So we were very happy to be joined by a group of guests for our recent Fresh Fitness Concepts event who, over three days, tested out a whole series of exercises and classes, put together by our award-winning fitness consultant, Dean Hodgkin.
Dean and the Ragdale fitness team ran sessions including On The Ropes, Rush, Hit It, Behind Barres, Cycology, and Primal Flow, which saw participants involved in various activity, from a full body, lung busting workout using just six exercises, to adapted barre movements combined in intense bouts of strength and conditioning.
Then there was the range of exercises to further enhance both strength and flexibility via a wholly sensory experience inspired by the animal kingdom, and the drumming-inspired class combining beating a fitness ball, the floor, a mat and anything else that doesn’t move with squats, lunges and jumps and a final floor section to tone the abs and butt.
A class promising ‘meditation in motion’ sounded positively relaxing by comparison but further investigation revealed cycling uphill and ‘the mental race, the race to overcome the course and finally the race against your opponents’ was in store for our group!
There really was something for everyone during the event and now the valuable feedback Dean and the fitness team received from participants has been used to decide which of the sessions are worthy of a place on Ragdale’s fitness timetable, which is available to all guests.
