If you’ve visited Ragdale and taken part in one of our many fitness classes, spent time in the gymnasium or been a guest on one of our popular fitness breaks, it’s quite likely you will have received some encouraging words of support from our Fitness Manager, Chris Chambers.
This month marks a very special occasion as Chris celebrates is 20th work anniversary here at Ragdale! Pictured below is Chris with Managing Director, David Hamdorff, as he collected his certificate, a voucher for a meal for two in the Dining Room and a cash bonus.
Chris has been instrumental in building an award-winning fitness programme here at Ragdale and leads a team of 15-strong fitness instructors to deliver a huge variety of classes and programmes.
And if being a fulltime Fitness Manager wasn’t challenging enough, Chris is Ragdale’s Hair Studio Manager and is also in charge of training and leading our team of Duty Managers who oversee the smooth running of the Hall. And even THEN he doesn’t break a sweat!
We caught up with Chris on how he’s found his time at Ragdale: “The past 20-years has gone so quickly, and it’s been so enjoyable. I feel very lucky to work with such a great team.
“I’ve made some lifelong friends in guests over the years, and they really have played such a huge part in making my time here so great – whether we see each other once a week or once a year. It’s been a privilege to watch thousands of guests achieve some incredible fitness milestones, and to have been part of that journey with them.
“Every day is just so different at Ragdale, and that’s why I love what I do.”
Chris’ understanding of his profession has enabled him to develop and improve Ragdale’s fitness offer beyond recognition from 20 years ago, but by far his most important asset is his calm, unflappable personality – essential when managing a team of fitness trainers, who it’s fair to say, can be described as a highly charged bunch of extroverts!
Always leading by example, Chris can regularly be found in the studio teaching classes, with Pilates (particularly at advanced level) being his strength, and he’s often spotted in our gym after work, practising what he preaches………although we’re pretty sure he’d much rather be playing a round of golf!
