Forward planning – spa breaks in 2011
If you find that the start of December tends to be synonymous with “downhill all the way on the diet front”, you are certainly not alone. Surely it can be no accident that both Christmas and calories start with the same letter.
Which means that before the old year is out, all but the most abstemious amongst us will be rueing the inevitable Christmas calorific overload as we peer reluctantly into a mirror, assessing the impact of all those captivating canapés and other tempting festive treats.
So what’s to be done? How can we consume our fair share of festive goodies without, in turn, being consumed by guilt? Planning ahead – that’s how!
Fortunately for gastronomes UK-wide, as January canters towards us, spas up and down the country are already taking bookings for their New Year spa breaks.
Ragdale Hall, in deepest Leicestershire, is an ideal place to begin your New Year fitness campaign with conviction. Their Kick Start Fitness event runs from January 17th-20th, promising to put “sweat on your brow and a smile on your face while you try out the latest workouts designed to give you a kick start to 2011”.
And, following the resounding success of their initial “Beaut Camp” last autumn, Ragdale are offering further such spa breaks for guests keen to combine energetic keep-fit classes with a little restorative pampering.
2011 Beaut Camp participants will work out under the watchful eye of Ragdale’s top fitness experts, before sampling some of the luxury spa’s less arduous pursuits – such as a Dead Sea Mud Envelopment…
This luxurious treatment comprises a full body exfoliation, with a layer of gently warmed black Dead Sea mud being applied to the skin while you receive a soothing scalp massage. You are then left to relax whilst the minerals from the mud cleanse and re-mineralise your skin, before body lotion is applied, to soothe and nourish it.
Or perhaps you’d prefer a Fresh Legs Treatment? This invigorating exfoliation helps to soften and smooth even the driest of skins. Enriched plant oils combine with a stimulating massage, helping to eliminate toxins, boost circulation and improve lymph drainage. Finally an energising leg emulsion is applied to refresh and revive tired, aching legs.
Of course, the great thing about booking a New Year spa break now is that you can then settle down and enjoy the culinary highlights of the festive season, safe in the knowledge that come January, you’ll be able to get your lifestyle back on an even keel – with a little help from your friends down at the spa…
