Alison Stonehouse

If you’ve visited Ragdale Hall over the last decade or two, we think you’ll have met our Guest Liaison team member and Duty Manager, Alison Stonehouse, who is celebrating 20 years with us this month!

Alison’s a very familiar face for most of our guests as she’s usually the first person they see on arrival – and the last as they depart (and if you’re a regular guest we imagine you’re nodding your head in agreement at this!)

But you may also remember Alison from her pre-Guest Liaison days as she actually started with us as a Beauty Therapist back in 1996 – and she confesses she was only planning to stay for a year!

As a therapist, Alison enjoyed meeting and chatting with our guests, with pedicures and mud wraps being her favourite treatments to perform. Over the years her guests for treatments have included actors from TV’s Emmerdale and Coronation Street, Nottingham Forest and England international footballer Stuart Pearce, and even Bergerac himself, actor John Nettles.

Even though she enjoyed her role in the Beauty team and had undertaken adult teaching qualifications so she could train our new therapists, around ten years ago Alison took up an opportunity to cover a colleague’s maternity leave, as a member of Ragdale Hall’s Guest Liaison team. She enjoyed the front of house role so much she never returned to the Beauty department, and now she is one of the most recognised faces at the Hall, welcoming thousands of guests as they arrive each year.

Alison’s role involves overseeing check-in and ensuring guests’ requirements are accommodated. She’s also become a Duty Manager, which means it’s down to her to ensure the Hall runs smoothly throughout the day and evening when she is on duty.

She said: “There are never two days the same but the key part of my role every day is to ensure that our guests have the best experience possible, whether they’re here for just a few hours or several days. And it is so interesting to meet the huge variety of people we get coming to the Hall and especially catching up with our regular guests each time they return.”
