Some of our staff have been out and about in nearby Melton Mowbray recently, working with students at our local college, Brooksby Melton College.

Professional Cookery students at the College had an evening to remember as they worked alongside our Executive Head Chef, David Ross, and Dining Room Manager, Mohamed Bardouz, at the college’s Rural Catering Centre,  to offer an evening of luxury cuisine and first-class service to diners at their new venue.

David is used to leading our team of chefs to provide a range of dishes for lunch and dinner every day in our sumptuous Dining Room, but he rolled up his sleeves in the College’s kitchen, sharing his knowledge and experience with Level 3 Professional Cookery students.

The students  joined him, and our Head Chef Anthony,  in the kitchen to create mouth-watering dishes using healthier ingredients, but without losing any of the rich flavour, for guests dining at the College’s Rural Catering Centre that evening.

Also during the evening Level 2 students focusing on the Food and Beverage Service element of their qualification  waited-on ‘front of house’ with Mohamed, whose daily role with us involves overseeing our busy Dining Room team.

Mohamed advised on and demonstrated the skills and application needed to provide amazing customer service,  which Ragdale Hall is famous for (and we hope you agree).

To make the evening extra special, customers were also treated to a mini hand massage on arrival by former Brooksby Melton College Beauty Therapy student Holly Quinn, who won Ragdale Hall’s first ever Student of Excellence competition earlier this year, securing a Beauty Therapist position with us.

She was accompanied by Alice Tunnaley, also formerly of Brooksby Melton College, and a runner up in the competition,  securing a Beauty Therapist role with us.

The night was one of many collaborative activities between Ragdale Hall and Brooksby Melton College, designed to offer students an insight into the world of work and giving them hands-on experience working alongside current industry professionals. We also like to meet local students who might soon choose to come and work with us!
