A little help goes a long way
Being involved with Ragdale Hall is a privilege and we are all very aware of how fortunate we are to work in such a beautiful environment and to have the opportunity to look after such lovely guests.
We realise that not everyone is as lucky and thought you might like to hear about some of the ways that we try to help others and ‘give something back’ to both the local area and also to those further afield.
LOROS is the Leicestershire hospice (which provides free care and support for terminally ill patients) and is our nominated charity. We try to support their activities as many times a year as possible, either by sending donations from initiatives here at Ragdale Hall or providing our therapists to attend open days at the hospice.
For the last 11 years we have given £10,000 annually to good causes within the local area who apply for a share of the ‘community chest’ for a specific project through the Make it Happen initiative with the Melton Times. Community groups, the elderly, disabled and sports clubs have all benefited in the past.
Many local women’s group and charities have benefited from fundraising with us and our our Clarins colleagues, through ‘pamper evenings’. These evenings are not only great social events with a chance to try and learn about Clarins products, but the charities raise funds through their ticket sales and raffle takings.
Emmaus is a local charity helping the homeless. They provide not just a roof over someone’s head, but also meaningful work and a stable ‘home’ environment for as long as someone needs it. We are donating bedroom and other furniture to this excellent cause when we do refurbishments, for them to sell in their shops or use in their homes.
Nottingham based charity Shoe Aid are benefiting from our donations of used Ragdale Hall flip flops left by our guests after their stay. A staggering 300 million children worldwide do not have the ability to obtain a pair of shoes and by our donations, we hope to help even a few – and hopefully they’ll enjoy wearing the brightly coloured flip flops!
